Waste Reduction

Sprout uses only 30% or 100% post-consumer recycled paper for all operations, including all printed materials, internal documents and business cards.

To reduce paper consumption, internal documents are double-sided and communications with clients (e.g. invoicing) is conducted via electronic methods. Paper or plastic products are recycled and all food waste is composted (as per HRM guidelines).

Energy

Consumption is reduced by using Energy Star printers and energy saving settings on workstations. Heat pump used for heating and cooling.

Carbon Emissions

Whenever possible, client meetings are arranged through conference calls or e-meetings to reduce travel. In-home office.

Sprout actively seeks out LEED certified venues with appropriate waste management and carbon footprint considerations for holding stakeholder workshops and larger consultations. Sprout seeks out venues that offer locally-sourced, organic and/or Fair Trade nutrition breaks and refreshments.

Promoting a Safety Culture

There are many implications for occupational health and safety in program delivery, even when working with volunteers. Outreach programs need thoughtful consideration of health and safety legislation in the development of activities, standard operating procedures, and policies.

Safety culture is the practice of safety even when it is not legally required. Sprout Educational Consulting promotes safety culture through education and modelling.

Safety through Training

Offering courses in Occupational Health and Safety, WHMIS, Traffic Control Person Course,  and Temporary Workplace Signage Course.
