Waste Resource Management Curricular Framework & Program Design

The first of its kind, these program recommendations inform a joint certificate program between Nova Scotia Community College and Acadia University in the area of waste resource management. The curricular framework is designed to reflect the priorities and expertise of stakeholders in the waste management industry in Nova Scotia. It is a compilation of skills, attitudes, and knowledge drawn from stakeholder input about both long-term and day-to-day activities and challenges in waste resource management. Includes recommendations for program design and delivery, a set of eight curriculum documents, and an industry short course.

Tractor Safety: An Operator's Course

A clean, graphically rich presentation with a plain-language approach. It is designed to illustrate and reinforce an instructor’s skillful storytelling based on real-world expertise. Topics include regulations, hazards, safe operation, daily preventative maintenance, and tractor implements.

Beekeeping Course Curriculum

This curriculum outlines what knowledge, skills, and values future beekeepers should possess. It is the result of extensive research and stakeholder consultations and represents the diversity of beekeeping methods in the Maritime provinces.

Artisan Cheese Making: An Essential Guide from Milk to Mozzarella; Artisan Cheese Making Course Curriculum

This curriculum and illustrated participant guide reflects input from an extensive stakeholders consultation, including Nova Scotia cheese makers, academics, and government regulators. It gives learners a basic working knowledge of artisan cheese making, including topics such as dairy-specific food safety, the art and science of cheese making, and reflections on cheese making as a hobby or career.

Blueberry Harvester Operators: A Guide to Safety and Efficiency

This 24-paged, full-colour guide and its accompanying instructor supplement equips learners with the basics of operating a wild blueberry harvester through a mix of classroom and hands-on activities. Problem-based learning is used to explore preventative and situational procedures, giving participants practice with decisions related to real work in the field.

Includes content and procedures gathered directly from large- and small-scale wild blueberry producers, harvester manufacturers, and researchers in Nova Scotia. It also involved collaboration with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension.
